TO All Members Of The Metro League of Bass Clubs:
As everyone, is aware of the situation at Falcon Lake. Mexican pirates terrorizing American fisherman on the lake. It has brought concern to the officers and members, of our organization ‘Metro” to consider the safety of our fellow anglers.
The officers voted to fish Falcon as our City Tournament, plans were in place. James Benedele and Speedy Colette have been so gracious in helping with getting the tournament under way. It is unfortunate that the media is spreading the word so widely about the going on’s at Falcon, that it has raised much concern with Anglers that enjoy the lake.
Questions were being asked if METRO has a plan B in place in case the problem with the Pirates on Falcon gets worse. We along with everyone else, hope they get better, and from what we are hearing right now from James and Speedy they have not had any incidences reported. And, could get better by October, which leaves Metro at the decision of keeping the Tournament at Falcon, and if it did get worse, our only option would be to cancel City, or we could check into Del Rio and see what kind of package we could get from Chamber of Commerce, so we would know for sure City would continue.
Del Rio Chamber of Commerce had been contacted yesterday. They up’d their original package of $5,900.00 to $10,000.00 in writing to us. Which leaves us with close to or right at, the same package offered from Falcon.
With much discussion from the OFFICERS of Metro, it was decided that we should consider the safety of the members of Metro, along with the fact that we knew, City would take place if we had it at Lake Amistad. With much regret to everyone involved with getting Metro an awesome bid from Falcon Lake for the 2010 year. Metro hopes that everyone understands.
More details will follow, we will have all the details at our next METRO meeting on June 16th. Hope to see everyone there.
Sincerely
Harvey Holmes
